    Yoshiro Nagase (JP 1891-1978) "Tobogan Boy" multi color woodblock print signed and dated "Nagase - 1961" LR and titled "Tobogon Boy - 11/100" LL. Block area measures approx. 12" W x 17" H in decorative frame with museum glass measuring approx. 19.75" W x 24.75" H. Yoshiro Nagase was born on January 5, 1891, in Sakuragawa City, Ibaraki Prefecture. He initially pursued Western-style painting at the Hakubakai Institute and sculpture at Tokyo Art College, although he did not complete his studies there. Nagase transitioned to printmaking and contributed to a sosaku hanga magazine called "Kamen" ("Mask"). In 1929, he traveled to France and returned to Japan in 1936. He showcased his work at notable exhibitions such as the Salon d'Automne in Paris and the international Biennale in Tokyo.
