        (American Italian 1912 -1992) Double sided original watercolor & ink paintings by Joseph Mugnaini. Best known for this collaboration with Ray Bradbury. His illustrations appear in many of Bradbury's books. SIZE: Both 25 x 36" overall 31 x 43". Housed under glass in Mid-Century period frame. 1 of the paintings is signed LR partially hidden beneath frame, the other we cannot see signature but is apparently signed as well. Images appear to be good, some foxing spots in places. Not examined out of frame. BIO: Joseph Anthony Mugnaini, painter, printmaker, author, illustrator, and educator, immigrated from Italy with his family. Author of five books on art techniques and materials, he is best known as being the primary illustrator of the science fiction books of Ray Bradbury. His work were included in the annual National Exhibition of Prints at the Library of Congress and exhibited in prominent museums such as the British Museum, L.A. County Museum & Norton Simon Museum.

Creasing and some faint toning, else near fine; (2) pair of identical posters for the world premiere of ''Leviathan 99: A Space Age Drama by Ray Bradbury at the Metro-Goldwyn Stage Nine''. Both measure 13.25'' x 22.5''. Foxing and toning, with a stain to lower left of one, else very good; (3) set of 4 identical posters for ''The Wonderful Ice Cream Suit''. Posters are blue with white lettering and design, advertising the play at the Coronet Theatre on La Cienega Blvd. in Los Angeles. Each measures 11'' x 15.75''. Some wear to corners, else near fine; (4) set of 5 illustrated prints of Bradbury's moving poem ''Imagine'', all signed in pencil by the artist Joseph Mugnaini. One is signed by Bradbury and dedicated to his wife Marguerite McClure; his sweet autograph inscription at the conclusion of the poem is an allusion to a line in the poem about any minute of life being worth reliving after one's death, reading, ''Mag: ANY Minute! Love, RAY''. Mugnaini also pays tribute to Mrs. Bradbury on this print, ''Mag, you inspire''. Indeed, Bradbury's wife is credited with enabling his seminal career by taking on the role of breadwinner early in their marriage so he could spend his days writing. Accompanied by an unsigned print bearing just the illustration and title without the poem. Each measures 22.5'' x 15.5''. Foxing and toning, with creasing to Bradbury signed sheet. Very good. The first piece is a silkscreen labeled B4 of 200 prints, meaning Bon a Tirer proof, or the very last trial proof before printing the final edition. Scene is an eerie pair of archways set perpendicular to each other, with a large moon hovering above. Archways stand alone and lead nowhere, surrounded by leafless trees on a red and purple ground. Measures 9.5'' x 12.5''. The second piece is an offset lithograph titled by hand in pencil, ''The Towers for Ray / 2nd proof / Martian Chronicles''. In it, a building is topped with spires, with several others like it in the background against an orange sky. A black moon eclipses a yellow sun in the distance. Dates to circa 1980. The former depicts a figure wearing a cape and wielding a large, cannon-like object. The latter is of a priest in robes, appearing to oversee a rocket explosion.
