        Charles Motte (1785-1836) d'après Eugène Delacroix - Faust, tragédie de Goethe traduite par Strapfer. 1828. Imprimeur Motte. 66x49cm. Affiche originale, lithographie, entoilée. Condition B-, plusieurs traces de déchirures en particulier dans la partie haute, décolorations. Vénérable et prestigieuse affiche. Dans le livre, une gravure de Delacroix reprend en inversé le personnage du Diable présent sur l'affiche. L'ancienneté de l'affiche se traduit par l'utilisation d'un papier rose, avant que le papier blanc soit devenu réglementaire. Ernest Maindron fait référence à cette affiche dans son ouvrage « Les affiches illustrées », Launette, 1886. p.81. Il mentionne qu'à sa connaissance il n'existe qu'une seule épreuve connue, décrite par Burty dans « L'intermédiaire » en 1884. Avec ce Faust, Delacroix a fait le premier « livre de peintre » de l'ère moderne, et c'est aussi le premier ouvrage littéraire illustré par un grand lithographe.
