"IVAN MOSCA"; GIOVANNI MOSCA (Parma, Italy, 1915-Rome, 2005). Untitled. Oil on canvas. Signed in the lower left corner. It presents losses of polychrome and damages in the upper margin. Measurements: 156 x 163 cm. "Ivan Mosca" is the pseudonym used by Giovanni Mosca, Italian painter who moved young to Milan, where he attended the Scuola del Libro of the Società Umanitaria, extending later his formation in the Superior Institute for the Artistic Industries of the city of Monza. Throughout this period his interest in abstract art led him to work in this trend and to meet artists with similar tastes, making friends with other figures who gravitated around the Il Milione Art Gallery (Osvaldo Licini, Manlio Rho...). In 1936 he went to Rome, where he attended classes at the Academy of Fine Arts, and changed his style, bringing it closer to Neo-Expressionism. In 1943, to escape the military incursions, he took refuge in France, and returned to Italy after the end of the war. It is at this time when he began to exhibit his work in Rome, and began to receive recognition for his work, in addition to increasing his reputation as a designer and lithographer (an area in which insects are frequent). His meeting with Irene Brin and Gaspero del Corso, owners of the Art Gallery "L'Obelisco", motivated them, interested in his work, to make his works known abroad, especially in the United States.
