      Clivia Calder Morrison (American, 1909-2010). A bronze sculpture. A Modernist work depicting a whimsical abstract male figure with three heads and six arms. Signed CLIVIA at base of feet. Presented on a black lacquer wooden plinth. Dimensions: 16 X 6 X 6 in. Condition: Good overall condition having normal surface wear. Rich dark patina. Estate fresh to the market.       DESCRIPTION: A pair of clay terracotta sculptural figures by artist Clivia Morrison, depicts a male and female in minimalist execution, the figures mirror each other with one leaning forward and the other away. Each figure affixed atop rectangular acrylic bases, and have engraved signatures along the heel "Clivia". Clivia Morrison was born in Michigan in 1909 and is best known for her WPA-era sculptures and paintings. Her public works include the glazed terra-cotta sculpture "Children Reading" at Michigan State University in East Lansing. CIRCA: Mid 20th Cent. ORIGIN: USA DIMENSIONS: (H: 20" x W: 7" x L: 11") & (H: 19.5" x W: 7" x L: 11.5") CONDITION: Great condition, repaired crack at hat of forward leaning figure.       Clivia Calder Morrison (American 1909- )- bronze sculpture, "Odalisque" signed Clivia AP on verso, very good condition. 10''L x 7-1/4"H bronze only, overall including the base 9"h x 12"w x 5-1/2"d. Clivia Calder studied with Samuel Cashwan at the Detroit Society of Arts and Crafts and with William Zorach in New York at the Art Students League. She was the ceramic supervisor for the WPA/FAP in Michigan and received numerous commissions under the Project, including  Sea Nymph (1938) at the Michigan League in Ann Arbor and  Children Reading (1938) at MSU.
