The canvas has been laid on fibreboard. The paint surface is somewhat discolored, showing craquelure, consistent with age. The inspection under UV light reveals strokes of retouching throughout the depiction, mainly to the sky. The lower part of the painting has a small dent. The frame comes with slight traces of usage. The dimensions are 85 x 135 cm, and the frame measures 98 x 147 cm. Ludmila Morozova (1907-1997) Born in Kiev, Ludmila Morozova first took private art classes with Anna Krueger Prakhova. Thereafter, she pursued studies at the Kiev Art and Industrial School from 1925 to 1927, and at the Kiev Art Institute from 1928 to 1931. Among her teachers were Mykhailo Kozyk, Yukhym Mykhailiv, Kostiantyn Yeleva and the brothers Vasyl and Fedir Krychevsky. The latter exercised the greatest influence on her creative style. Morozowa‘s works were coined by Impressionism, and she mainly painted in oil. In 1935, she held her first solo exhibition in Kiev. In 1944, she made a trip to Berlin and Dresden. After the war, she emigrated to the United States in 1951. In New York, she was a member of the American Artists Professional League. She taught at the Queensboro Art Society in Queens for 25 years. In the 1970s, she settled in Hunter, New York. Works by Morozova are at the National Art Museum of Ukraine, at the Museum of the City of Kiev, and in numerous private collections.
