        Camilo Mori (1896-1973) Oil on canvas. Signed. Small flaw Camilo Mori, Chilean. In 1923, after a 3 years long stay in Paris where he met Juan Gris and pablo Picasso, back to Chile he co-founded the "Montparnasse Group" together with Luis Vargas Llosa, Henriette Petit, Manuel Ortiz de Zárate and José Perotti. The group's aim was to "overthrow" a local artistical trend named ""romancismo criollista". In 1937, In New York, he produced a mural for the Chilean pavillion in the 1939 "New York Exhibition". The creation of the "Asociación de Cartelistas de Chile", comes after the N.Y period. Later, with Gregorio de la Fuente, Mireya de la Fuente and Carlos Sotomayor, Mori founded the group "Escafandra". Mori was awarded with the National Prize for painting in 1950. He classified his last works as "abstract impressionism" ("cuadros no-objectivos"). In 1970 Mori made a brief route through pop-art.
