His painter father began training teenager Morgan, and he became the largest influence on his son's career. As the artist in Frederick Morgan developed, his images of families at home and children playing were ideal subjects, and he became a master of children's portraiture. But, when subjects wanted to include their pets, he had another artist assist. Morgan claimed to have no skill painting animals.
