Medium: Serigraph Condition: Excellent Signature Details: Signed, dated and numbered 64/100, lower margin Other Details: The print also bears the embossing of the “Taller Serigrafia Rene Portocarrero”, the printmaking workshop where the print was pulled and from which it was acquired by the seller. Unframed. ARTIST BIO: Juan Moreira graduated as a professional draftsman in 1958 from the Fernando Aguado y Rico Higher School of Trades and Crafts in Havana. In 1960 he attended a course in Commercial Art at the Martin Studio School in Havana and in 1963 he graduated from the San Alejandro School of Fine Arts and the Experimental Graphic Art Workshop. He is a member of the National Union of Cuban Writers and Artists (UNEAC) and of the UNESCO International Association of Art (IAA). His works are part of the collection of the National Museum of Fine Arts in Havana, Cuba; the Museum of the Americas in Managua, Nicaragua; the Latin American Gallery in Krakow, Poland; the Cuban Art Museum in Vienna, Austria, The National Gallery of Jamaica, in Kingston; the Schools Museum in Gotha, Germany; the Saint Thomas University in Houston, Texas; and the Royal Ontario Museum in Ontario, Canada. He received First Prize in drawing at the First Provincial Exhibition of Visual Art Professors and Instructors in Havana (1973); an Honorary Mention in the 7th Kosice Biennial in Czechoslovakia (1984) and Third Prize at the 3rd Painting Contest of the Nicomedes García Gomez Foundation in Segovia, Spain (2001). He received the Diploma for Artistic Merit, granted by the Superior Institute of Art.
