      Major Lee Moorhouse Native American photograph; Oregonian "Renaissance" man Thomas Leander Moorhouse introduced early 20th century photo technology using a large format camera with dry gelatin plates to chronicle the Umatilla Nation. The subject, War Chief Peo, was posed in various settings to both romanticize the declining state of Native Americans and stimulate commerce by "hawking" the wardrobe and accessories available through Indian agent Moorhouse. Moorhouse copyright on front and back of photo. Image 9" x 7". Good condition.
