A landscape work depicting a metropolitan cityscape overlooking a serene bay with a few boats and ships and the shimmer tranquility of twilight. Signed lower right. Hand inscribed artist name and date 1976 on verso. Presented in a gilt wood frame. Provenance: 3/29/2008 Charlton Hall Galleries,Inc. LOT 1015. From the private collection of Louis Geys (Belgian, 1945-2022). Work Size: 18 x 36.5 in. Dimensions: 19.25 X 37.75 X 2 in. Condition: Good overall condition having mild surface wear.       35 years old painting by first nation artist Tim Paul salmon & moon, very well kept;16 x 12 framed; ..... signed by Tim paul. Artist : Tribe: Hesquiaht / Nuu Chah NulthTim Paul learned carving skills at the Arts of the Raven Gallery, in Victoria in 1975. He then assisted Richard Hunt in the Royal British Columbia Museum's carving programme at Thunderbird Park in Victoria. Since 1976, Tim Paul has been a senior carver at the Royal British Columbia Museum. In addition to being a talented carver, Tim Paul is a gifted graphic artist. He has released limited edition silkscreen prints that have as their subject matter various legends of Nuu Chah Nulth culture. Tim also paints in acrylic. Whatever the medium, Tim Paul's work is characterized by a high level of skill and originality. Tim is dedicated to upholding traditions of his culture through his teaching in addition to his work as an artist.

      This is a second cityscape by Paul Moon, an American artist from Kansas. He served in the Navy, then attended the Academié de la Grande Chaumiere and the Academié Julian in Paris in the early 1950's. When he returned to the U.S., he settled in the San Francisco Bay area and paintings of redwood trees became his trademark. The painting is signed in the lower right and dated 1971 on the back. The overall size is 38 1/2 x 20 in. wide and the sight size is 35 1/2 x 17 1/2 in. wide.
