    MONTARDIER (FRENCH, ACT. 1812-1848). TWO WATERCOLORS OF NAVAL ENGAGEMENTS INVOLVING THE FRIGATE "FRANCAISE LA LOIRE" OFF THE COAST OF IRELAND. Depicting the fourth and fifth battles between the "Francaise" and the British ships "Lanson," "Robust," Kangaroo" and "Mermaid" on the 26th and 29th of September. Each on paper, 13 x 18 inches, sight. Signed "A.L.E.D. Montardier pinxit" l.r. with caption in French below the image describing the battle. Provenance: Collection of Norman E.
