Artist Frederic Kimball Mizen was a prominent 19th century landscape and genre painter and a pioneer in billboard illustrations. He's most well-known for designing the first Coca Cola billboard ad and for creating magazine covers for numerous American publications, including The Saturday Evening Post. He was born in Chicago in 1888 and studied at the J. Francis Smith Academy of Art, the Art Institute of Chicago, and Paris' Academy Julian. His landscape and genre paintings were greatly influenced by Walter Ufer, a noted artist in his own right.

Artist Frederic Kimball Mizen began working as a Sears' catalogue illustrator at the age of 20, but also dabbled as a portraitist, creating one of the famed lawman Wyatt Earp.
