            NORMAN MINGO (1896-1980) Men's fashion advertisement. Graphite on paper. 14 x 10 1/2 inches. Signed lower right image. Norman Mingo was an illustrator best known for his work with MAD Magazine, particularly for defining the iconic image of Alfred E. Neuman. Before joining MAD, Mingo contributed illustrations to magazines such as American Weekly and Ladies' Home Journal, and for advertisements for companies like Procter & Gamble, General Electric, and U.S. Steel. His skill in creating detailed, realistic portraits and his versatility as an artist made him a sought-after illustrator.
