        Collection of Southern pottery by female potters Pinewood Pottery vases by Edith Harwell (North Carolina/ Alabama, 1904-1982) blue glaze, 1938, made in Charlotte, NC, impressed mark, H3 1/2" red & gray glaze, 1941, made in Fairhope, AL, impressed mark, H4" together with a rare floral-painted vase circa 1940 by Pamela K. Watts (Tennessee, 20th century), H9 1/2" (3pcs) Exhibitions: Birmingham Museum of Art, Birmingham, Alabama: Social Reform: Women and Pottery in the Arts and Crafts Movement Other Notes: A Charlotte native, self-taught pottery Edith Harwell maintained a studio in the basement of the Mint Museum. She alse retailed her pieces through the museum before moving with her husband and fellow potter Converse to Fairhope, Alabama in 1938.
