        SQUAW WRAP NAVAJO LONGHORN STEER BELT BUCKLE

        This buckle belonged to Michael Miller (1959-2021). He Wore it through the entirety of his art career. 7 5/8" long, 5 7/8" wide. Adopted at the age of 2 by a Mennonite family, Michael was raised on the Oregon coast. He began woodworking at the age of 14. At age 21, Michael opened his first woodworking shop and made high end cabinetry and fine furniture. Michael's work has been featured at many art shows in California and at the Maritime Museum in Monterey, California. Later moving to Montana, Michael collected everything from wood to spent brass and turned them into masterful works of art.

        MICHAEL C. Michael Miller earned a BFA from Southwest Texas State University, an MFA from the University of California, and attended the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture. Miller works with fabric, paper, and canvas to create colorful pop art collages. These pieces have been exhibited in the 42nd Biennial Exhibition of Contemporary American Painting at the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington DC, The Museum of Fine Arts in Houston, and the Laguna Gloria Museum. Michael Miller currently teaches in the Department of Art at Texas A&M University-Commerce.
