            JAMES WOOD (RI, 1803-1867) - A Pair of Profile Bust Portraits, Man and Woman, captioned "Drawn by J. Wood, 1829" & "Drawn by J. Wood from a capitol model by Geo. Miller" (possibly Scottish emigree wax portraitist George Miller, who died in 1819). Oil on paper, laid to mahogany panel, with painted round spandrels, in what may be the original gold matched corner cove frames, under old glass, OS: 12 1/2" x 10 3/4", SS: 8 1/2" x 6 1/2" with 4 3/4" diam portraits. Toning, small edge tear to him, a few white spots to her.

Lauf mit Laufgehäuse auf Trommelachse geschraubt. Glatte Trommel. Ausstoßer. Auf dem Lauf bezeichnet "Wm. Miller Parker Square Dundee", rechts unten am Rahmen "Patent 14121". Links am Laufgehäuse Gravur "Presented to SERGt. W.WILLIAMSON by the Officers Non Com.Officers & MEMBERS OF No. 8 COY 1st FORFARSHIRE R.V.C.". Originale blauschwarze Hochglanzbrünierung zu ca. 80 % erhalten, partiell braun patiniert, fleckig. Ladeklappe gebläut. Hahn, Abzug und Ausstoßer weiß poliert. Dunkle Nussholzgriffschalen. Im passenden Kasten aus Nussholz, Maße 30 x 19 x 6 cm, Deckel mit Rissbildung, ausgelegt mit blauem Filz, Inhalt: Leere Patronenschachtel mit Etikett "50 Rim-Fire Pistol Cartridges, Eley, London", Schraubendreher, Putzstock, Ölkännchen aus Zinn. Revolver in ungewöhnlichem Design aus der Zeit des Übergangs von Stiftfeuer- auf Randfeuerpatronen. Erwerbsscheinpflichtig. circa 1875, cal..380 long RF, no. 14121. Octagonal barrel with seven-groove rifled bore with a distinct land/groove profile, length 5". Five shots. British proof mark. Single action. Barrel with barrel housing screwed onto base pin. Smooth cylinder. Ejector. On the barrel marked "Wm. Miller Parker Square Dundee", on right bottom of frame marked "Patent 14121". On left side of barrel housing engraved "Presented to SERGt. W.WILLIAMSON by the Officers Non Com.Officers & MEMBERS OF No. 8 COY 1st FORFARSHIRE R. V. C.". 80 % original blue-black high gloss finish, partially in a brown patina, spotted. Loading gate blued. Hammer, trigger and ejector polished white. Dark walnut grip panels. Comes in matching walnut case, dimensions 30 x 19 x 6 cm, lid with cracks, inlaid in blue felt. Contents: empty cartridge box with label "50 Rim-Fire Pistol Cartridges, Eley, London", screwdriver, cleaning rod, tin oiler.
