      Adam Miedzyblocki, Polish artist (1883-1956) Watercolor pencil drawing. “St. Anne's Church of Vilna”, signed, 1920s, size: 23 x 17.8 cm. (9 x 7 inches) St. Anne's Church (Lithuanian: Sv. Onos baznycia; Polish: Kosciol sw. Anny) is a Roman Catholic church in Vilnius' Old Town, on the right bank of the Vilnia River established circa 1495–1500. It is a prominent example of both Flamboyant Gothic and Brick Gothic styles. St. Anne's is a prominent landmark in the Old Town of Vilnius that enabled the district to be included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage sites, [1] and is one of the most interesting examples of Gothic architecture in Lithuania.

      Adam Miedzyblocki, Polish artist (1883-1956) Watercolor pencil drawing. Great Synagogue of Vilna, signed, 1920s, size: 24 x 17 cm. Added photo of 1920s with view of this synagogue as an illustration. Very light damage to right edge. The Great Synagogue of Vilna, which once stood at the end of Jewish Street (I-2), Vilnius, Lithuania, was built between 1630 and 1633 after permission was granted to construct a synagogue from stone. Standing on the spot of an existing synagogue built in 1572, the site had first been used to house a Jewish house of prayer in 1440. Damaged in World War II, it was demolished in 1955–1957 and replaced by a kindergarten and a primary school. Adam Miedzyblocki (born April 4, 1885 in Gryszkance, died August 25, 1956 [a] [1] in Gdansk) - Polish painter. Around 1899 he became a student of the Drawing School in Vilnius, and then went to Krakow, where from 1908 he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts. His professors were Teodor Axentowicz, Leon Wyczolkowski and Jozef Pankiewicz, he graduated in 1913, receiving a gold medal for outstanding achievements during his studies. After the outbreak of World War I, he left for Tbilisi, where he continued his studies at the local Academy of Fine Arts. He traveled to Baku and Armenia. Around 1917 he went to Constantinople, where he also studied painting techniques. In 1919 he moved to Warsaw, and a year later he volunteered to fight in the Polish-Bolshevik war. In 1922 he moved to Vilnius, where he created and worked as a drawing teacher. In the years 1924-1936 he was employed as a cartoonist at the Stefan Batory University in Vilnius, in the Department of Descriptive Anatomy, headed by prof. Michal Reicher [2] [3]. He belonged to the Vilnius Society of Artists and Designers and to the Society for the Encouragement of Fine Arts with which he exhibited his works. After World War II, he moved to Gdansk as part of resettlement. He is buried at the Srebrzysko cemetery in Gdańsk (district IX, quarter IV, row 4)
