From 1982 to 1986 he studied at Nanjing University and from 1986 to 1989 at the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing. In the following years he was remained active as a freelance artist in the capital. From 1995 to 1999 he continued his studies at the University of Kassel. Since 1999, the artist has been living and working in Beijing. He is temporally active as a lecturer at the Department Photography and Digital Media of Central Academy of Fine Arts.
