Meurs sculpsit". At the upper part inscribed in the printing plate: "Georgius Calixtus S. Theol. D. et in Acad. Julia Primarius Professor Coenobii Regii Lutterani Abbas.". Date: 17th century Description: Bust portrait of the theologian in fashion typical of the time. Person: Georg Calixt (1586 Flensburg - 1656 Helmstedt) also Georg Callisen or Georgius Calixtus. Arnoldus Montanus drew this image in Amsterdam in 1671 based upon earlier sketches by De Bry as early as 1591 and even earlier by Le Moyne, who escaped Fort Caroline (Modern day Jacksonville, Florida) when it was attacked by Spanish Conquistadors.
