Born in Brooklyn, she attended Pratt Institute, where she majored in Visual Communications, and was then hired by Doyle Dane Bernbach advertising agency as its first woman art director. While raising five children she continued to take pictures. Gallery shows and commercial clients soon followed. One of her four monographs was honored by the American Society of Magazine Photographers with the Ansel Adams Award for Book Photography.
