    • JEAN LUC MESSIN HAY FIELD
      Jul. 20, 2024

      JEAN LUC MESSIN HAY FIELD

      Est: $3,000 - $5,000

Messin, Jean-Luc (French, B. 1938) Painting. Oil on Canvas - signed lower right. Executed in brush and palette knife. This painting portrays a serene rural landscape, rich in golden hues and the textures of the harvest. Round hay bales dot the field, suggesting the bounty and closure of the farming season. The artist has employed thick, textured strokes that give a tactile sense of the rough, dry grass and stubble left after the harvest. A road cuts through the fields, leading the eye across varied patches of color-from the golden field to the dark, fertile soil and the green trees lining the horizon. Canvas measures 36x36 framed to overall size of 44x44. He was born in Versailles, France and began his career in drawing and working at the theatre after completing his studies at the Lycee. He traveled throughout Europe and captured the beauty of the various country sides in his paintings. He travels back to Burgundy every summer where he continues painting. Condition: Very Fine
