Edward Mesjasz (born on February 1, 1929 in Czestochowa [1] , died on May 29, 2007 there) - a Polish painter, a battle and teacher.


Edward Mesjasz was born on February 1, 1929. The Messiah's father was a soldier of the 1st Regiment of Krechowiec Uhlans . Messiah graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow . His professors included Jerzy Kossak , Czeslaw Rzepinski and Jerzy Fedkowicz . After graduation, he started working at a high school in Czestochowa. Then he was a technical drawing teacher at a textile school. After 1968 he taught drawing in one of the vocational schools, where his student was Jerzy Duda-Gracz . In 1978 he retired. The painter had several individual exhibitions (War Museum in Ottawa in 1972, District Museum in Czestochowa 1978). He also took part in group exhibitions. He was a member of the Association of Polish Visual Artists . The most prolific creative period was in the years 1970-1985. He created battle scenes and paintings related to the history of the Polish Army. A frequent topic was the Polish cavalry. Preparing for work, the Messiah inspected the battlefields. He collected militaria. He came out of his brush, among others copy of Wojciech Kossak's painting. Watch, a guard on the Vistula , 2 x 1.5 m, painted on the basis of a postcard . He died on May 29, 2007 in Czestochowa [1] [2] . The paintings of Edward the Messiah are among others at the Polish Army Museum in Warsaw [3] and the Canadian War Museum in Ottawa .
