Um 1798. -- Sehr seltener und schöner Plan der Stadt Rom, erstellt von Edmé Mentelle (1730-1815) und Pierre-Grégoire Chanlaire (1758-1817). Er stammt aus dem "Atlas universel de géographie physique et politique, ancienne et moderne, présenté à l’Instruction des Écoles Centrales, pour les classes de Géographie, d’Histoire et de Législation", der im Jahr sechs der Republik, also 1798, veröffentlicht wurde. Dieser enthält sieben weitere Pläne von Hauptstädten. -- Unsere Karte ist mit einer Legende der wichtigsten Gebäude und Orte der Stadt sowie einer Liste von sieben italienischen Vokabeln mit ihrer französischen Übersetzung versehen. Chanlaire und Mentelle waren die Autoren des "Atlas National de France", des ersten Atlas’ der französischen Departements, der 1793 veröffentlicht wurde. Sehr seltenes Exemplar in zeitgenössischem Vollkolorit. Die spanische Nationalbibliothek besitzt eine Ausgabe des genannten Universalatlas’ von 1806 unkoloriert. – Mit breitem Rand, dekoratives Exemplar.

Neben einer Weltkarte mit zwei Hemisphären zeigen die Faltkupfer Europa, Asien, Afrika, Nord- und Südamerika, Frankreich, Italien, Griechenland, Persien, Borneo etc. Der französische Kartograph Edme Mentelle (1730-1815) war von 1760 bis 1792 Professor für Geschichte und Geografie an der École Militaire in Paris. – Sehr schönes und wohlerhaltenes Exemplar, die Kupfer zumeist auf qualitätvollem bläulichen Bütten, dekorativ gebunden.
