      PAVEL ROMANOVICH MEDEM (RUSSIAN 1858-1900S) Calm Sea by a Rocky Coast, 1902 oil on canvas 24 x 28 cm (9 1/2 x 11 in.) signed and dated lower left LOT NOTES Pavel Romanovich Medem came from a noble family and had a title of a baron. He studied in Imperial Academy of Arts (1877-1885) and during those years was awarded three small silver medals (1878, 1881, 1885). He spent the entirety of his life in St. Petersburg.
