Date: Description: Depiction of St Jerome with a skull, gazing into the falling light. Person: Church Father Hieronymus (? Stridon - 420 Bethlehem) Scholar and theologian of the ancient church. He was a church teacher and is venerated in various Christian denominations as a saint and as a church father. In the Catholic Church, he is one of the four so-called great Church Fathers of late antiquity, along with Ambrose of Milan, Augustine of Hippo and Gregory the Great.
