Dazzling art with a message, the artist’s digital collages weave together larger topical issues, such as war with everyday, cultural images – that have become the norm in today’s 24-hour news cycle world. Best described as a photographic kaleidoscope (both the visual and in the subject the work addresses), Mazinani creates intricate patterns by repeating sequences of photography into elaborate patterns. Rome/Tripoli makes reference to the events of the Arab Spring; images of street violence paired with Arab women with digital cameras in repeating formations into sleek ornamental styles, thought provoking, yet beautiful. Mazinani received her BFA from the Ontario College of Art & Design (OCAD) and her MFA from Standard University.
