Manufactured by Fritz Hansen in 1992. With seal under the tabletop. Measurements: 70 x 150 x 100 cm. The iconic Superellipse table, created in collaboration with Bruno Mathsson, has been manufactured at Fritz Hansen since 1968. After Piet Hein used the Superellipse as a solution to a traffic problem in Sergels Torg, Stockholm, he saw countless possibilities for its use. The table represents Piet Hein's skill as a furniture designer, for in addition to the tabletop he also designed the iconic tension legs.

Sjældent Superellipse spisebord med plade af finéret, lakeret palisander, spændben af forkromet stål samlet i firkantet beslag på rundt fodstykke. Pladebeslag integreret i pladen. H. 63,5, L. 175, B. 125 cm. Ant. udført i Värnamo. Litteratur: Bordet og tilblivelsen af spændbenet er omtalt og afbilledet i tidsskriftet Dansk Kunsthaandværk, 37. årgang 1964, i artiklen 'Det Spännande spännbenet' skrevet af Bruno Mathsson selv, s. 141-147. Idéen om spændbenet blev udviklet af Bruno Mathsson allerede i 1962. Denne udgave udført i perioden 1963-1964. To eksemplarer blev brugt som hhv. direktørskrivebord og mødebord hos Svensk Storindustri og Nationalmusset i Stockholm. Disse ligeledes nævnt i artiklen. Bordet kom først, i sin nuværende form, i produktion hos Fritz Hansen i 1958 i samarbejde med Piet Hein, Bruno Mathsson og Arne Jacobsen.

BRUNO MATHSSON (Sweden, 1907 - 1988) & PIET HEIN (Denmark, 1905 - 1996) for Fritz Hansen. Superellipse large dining table. Black laminated top with aluminum edge. Chromed steel legs. With Fritz Hansen label, year 2012. Light marks of use. Measurements: 73 x 300 x 130. Of enormous simplicity and purity, this table is one of the most emblematic of Danish design thanks, precisely, to the legs composed of triple chrome-plated steel beam that come together in a circular base support. Lightness, versatility and originality, also achieved thanks to the elliptical shape of the top. Piet Hein Eek is a Dutch designer. He is known for designs that require a significant intellectual work and a considerable investment of time for the craftsmen, despite the use of humble materials. Piet Hein Eek's work has an ecological focus. His emphasis on the use of found materials is in the service of sustainable design. His designs often highlight the natural qualities of his materials, which gives his pieces a distinctive look. She has undertaken sustainability projects in developing countries, as well as furniture design and production projects in her native Holland. In 2018, he developed a line of furniture in collaboration with IKEA. For his part, Bruno Mathsson was a Swedish architect and furniture designer, with a language based on the influences of functionalism and, at the same time, on the ancient craftsmanship tradition of his native country. Now considered the father of Swedish design, Bruno Mathsson is best known for his "Eva" chair and his "Pernilla" chaise longue which, apart from being comfortable seating, are above all a way of life born for modern man, a man close to nature through his simple, all-transparent houses. The lightness of Mathsson's furniture, functional and ergonomic, the organic forms and natural materials inspired many architects, such as Fisac in Spain. He is currently represented at the MoMA in New York, among many others around the world.
