Signed, dated and inscribed indistinctly lower left "To my friend Knud.../Masolle 1915", Bears indiscernible Swedish inscription on verso "...of thornsd favfen August 1934". Note: Knud refers to Knud Rasmussen SIZE: 16" x 28-1/2". Overall 19-1/2" x 32" PROVENANCE: Downeast Maine home, descendant of Knud Rasmussen, famous Danish arctic explorer whose "greatest achievement" was the massive Fifth Thule Expedition (1921_1924) being sold unreserved. CONDITION: Canvas has slight buckle, and discolored varnish with minor flake losses lower right 51323-8
