            Est: $80 - $120

Karl Marx Chenoweth Indiana, (1913 - 2007) female portrait in profile oil on canvas Signed lower right. Provenance: My grandfather, Karl Marx Chenoweth, went to Herron art school. He then ran a business called Art for Advertising for several decades. His clients included Indiana Farm Bureau, Coca-Cola, and L.S. Ayers among others. His drawings and paintings were the primary content for their printed advertising materials (magazines, fliers, and mailers). He also built displays used for events and store fronts. At some point he began teaching at The Indianapolis Art League (now The Indianapolis Art Center) and Marian College (now Marian University). When he retired, The Art League (Center) featured him on the cover of their magazine. My grandfather's sculptures were completely hand carved. No mechanical tools were used at all, except for rough cutting the initial block of stone or wood to size. Otherwise, hammers, mallets, chisels, and sanding paper/blocks were the only tools he used. His black and white paintings are examples of his commercial work. Those paintings were all turned into prints and featured in dozens of magazines and other printed advertising material, both as full-page ads and backgrounds, primarily in the 1950's and 60's. From Fred Hadley, the grandson of Karl Marx Chenoweth

S. 29) - nicht bei Stammhammer. - Erste russische Ausgabe, zugleich erste fremdsprachige Ausgabe.
