            Continental School, late 19th/ early 20th century. "Cinder Girl by the Hearth", oil on wood board, signed lower left "W. Martin". Painting depicts a young brunette girl, likely a representation of the fairy tail princess Cinderella, wearing black vest over white shirt and red skirt, sitting atop a fireplace hearth in a kitchen surrounded by birds, some flying and some eating from a bowl to her right, cooking pots, and food stuffs scattered about, the subject appearing wistful as she gazes toward a source of light outside of view. Framed approximately 12.5" x 9.75", unframed approximately 10.75" x 8".
