        DON MARTIN / LEN LEWIS STUDIO / MAD MAGAZINE Wallpapering. Hand-inked and painted key master animation cel setup for a British TV commercial, circa 1980. 300x420 mm; 11¾x16&12; inches, in 16x21-inch mat. The setup is on large 16 field animation cels and consists of 2 cel layers, one with the character and one with the background elements. In original mat as prepared by the studio, with the animator credited in pencil on the reverse. This extraordinarily rare cel setup for a British animated commercial was designed by the celebrated MAD Magazine cartoonist Don Martin. This is the only known example of art for this commercial. As any fan of Martin would attest, the commercial design quite faithfully translated Don Martin's unmistakable style to animated form.

        Don Martin American, 1931-2000 Drawings An assortment of thirty-three (33) sketches, studies, and drawings, several hand-signed and titled, all unframed. Don drew cartoons for MAD Magazine from 1956-1988 and was known as "Mad's Maddest Artist". He was a member of the National Cartoonist Society with special feature awards for 1981 & 1982. He was inducted in the Comic Book Hall of Fame in 2004.

Includes three signed letters, all 1p. 4to., from editor AL FELDSTEIN (1925-2014), associate editor JERRY DEFUCCIO (1925-2001), and artist DON MARTIN (1931-2000). WITH: Certificate of lifetime membership for the National EC Fan-Addict Club, 1p 8" x 10" color, signed by artists WILL ELDER (1921-2008) and JACK DAVIS (b. 1924), and by artist and editor HARVEY KURTZMAN (1924-1993).The certificate features a wide variety of characters which appeared in EC Comics. Also included are two photocopied ink sketches, signed in blue ink by Don Martin, one black ink sketch of Mickey Mouse drawn by Will Elder, who signs as "Will Dizzney", and a pencil sketch by Jack Davis of his most famous character, the Crypt Keeper. Fine.
