While Relton and Marine are separate persons, they paint together as a team on the same paintings—alternating work after each other. Their works are basically representational landscape, but not specific as to place. Relton was born in Cumbria. She studied at Jacob Kramer in Leeds and gained a Fine Arts Degree from Lancaster, based on time and study spent in India. She also has lived in Japan and Vietnam. She has painted widely throughout South East Asia. Her focus on color and imagery reflects this time spent in South East Asia. She returned to the UK in 1996 and began collaborative representational works with Tom Marine – exploring similar themes of place and memory—more a representation of feelings than of a specific place. Marine is a British painter born in Hartiepool. He studied at Byam Shaw and Chelsea College of Art. In addition to exhibiting and selling paintings through galleries and fairs he is also involved in art education and health. He collaborates with Christine Relton, painting with acrylics- on the same canvas. He runs workshops with children for various charities. He also has a separate focus on printmaking—working with text -which is mainly used in his work with children’s workshops in schools.
