YUGOSLAV PEOPLE LED BY TITO ORIGINAL VINTAGE WWII POSTER BY E MCKNIGHT KAUFFER

        Est: $1,200 - $1,600

“Yugoslav People Led By Tito” is a 1944 World War II propaganda poster by Edward McKnight Kauffer. The poster is designed in the Bauhaus style of graphic art and promotes Josip Broz Tito. Tito, who would become president of Yugoslavia, was widely regarded as the most formative organizer of resistance in Europe against the Axis. The poster was commissioned by United Committee of South-Slavic Americans who supported partisan fighters in Serbia, Slovenia, Croatia, Bulgaria and Macedonia. Edward McKnight Kauffer (1890-1954) studied painting at the California School of Design before moving on to Paris, at the behest of his benefactor, Joseph McKnight. He attended the Armory Show in Chicago, which had a major influence on his artwork. At the start of World War I, Kauffer moved to England where he produced over 140 posters for the London Underground. His poster designs are known for their versatility in style and technique including futurism, cubism, and vorticism. This is an Original Vintage Poster; it is not a reproduction. This poster is conservation mounted, linen backed, and in excellent condition. We guarantee the authenticity of all of our posters.
