Vintage gelatin silver print on original mount (corners of the mount chipped, pin holes) signed in pencil by Marcus and dated 1927, with Marcus's 5 East 82nd Street, New York rubber stamp on verso of mount; showing Dietrich in costume on stage in a chorus line for the 1927 Berlin production of the musical, Broadway; inked title in another hand bottom left corner of the mount, matted, the photograph 6 x 8 1/8 in. on a 13 x 10 in. mount.

      Marcus, Elli (1899-1977) Photograph of Georgia O'Keeffe. 1944, artist lifetime print. Silver gelatin portrait signed by Marcus on verso and again on the mat, with Marcus's New York East 82nd street rubber stamp on verso and numbered 86 in pencil; (marginal staining from tape and residual tape to margins of print affecting never more than 1/2 inch of the margins); a striking image of O'Keeffe facing the camera with her arms crossed, posed with one of her paintings in the background, and wearing her characteristic white top and black vest; with words in O'Keeffe's hand framing her presence in the composition, ending with "Georgia O'Keeffe" written across the artist's folded arms; the handwriting is part of the photographic image; in Marcus's signed mat; edge chipping, tape discoloration to margins; 13 3/4 x 11 in. in a 20 x 16 in. mat. Other images from this session have been located in institutional holdings, but no other examples of this particular image have surfaced.

Numbered in pencil by another hand. On front of the cardboard with strip of card mounted with photo corners, thereupon signed and dated in black ink by Conrad Veidt: „1930". Together in mat, thereupon signed by Elli Marcus in black ink, on the reverse of the mat cardboard inscribed and numbered by various hands in pencil Vintage or early gelatin silver print 11 3/4 x 9 1/4 in.
