VICENTE PERIS MARCO (Valencia, 1943). From the series "Carnival of Venice". Acrylic on canvas. Signed in the lower left corner. Measurements: 116 x 81 cm. Vicente Peris is an artist who, starting from an initial fascination for painting, ends up tackling other fields such as sculpture, photography, video, music and even dance. With an extraordinary creative capacity, he develops a pictorial language halfway between figuration and abstraction, with a vigorous line and magnificent workmanship, innovative in his proposals and techniques, integrating celebration, stage ritual and the process of painting as an indivisible part of the artistic work. An artist of academic training, Peris began to make himself known at the end of the sixties, after his debut with a solo exhibition held at the Estil gallery in Valencia in 1967. The following year he would show his work, still on his own, at the Zero gallery in Murcia, and in 1969 at the Fortuny gallery in Madrid. Since then he has held personal exhibitions in leading galleries in Spain, Italy, Germany, Latin America and Portugal, the most important of which was "Las Lunas", held in 2008 at the IVAM in Valencia. Since 1970 he has also participated in various group exhibitions and competitions, including the II Biennial of Valencia in 2006.
