Lower middle inscribed in the printing plate: "Johann Karl August Musäus (*1735), Märchensammler". Date: 18th century Description: Half-length portrait of the Göttingen theologian and canon law scholar Georg Wilhelm Böhmer with millstone collar and gown. With the fingers of his right hand placed between the pages of a book and his left hand raised in a gesture as if in explanation, the sitter gazes fixedly at the viewer. At the back, a curtain is drawn back to reveal a bookshelf and a crucifix.
