Max Mannix Art for Sale at Auction

b. 1939 -

A self-taught artist Max Mannix, whose inspirations are drawn from cattle station life in Australia, has grown from humble beginnings to achieve international acclaim. Despite his lifelong love and talent for art, Mannix initially worked managing cattle until the mid-70s, dabbling in sketching here and there before eventually moving to oil painting as a full-time career.

His first solo exhibition was held at the Palette Gallery in Warrandyte. In a matter of just a few years, the popularity of artist Max Manning had increased enough to allow him to open up his own private gallery from his home in NSW. Mannix, born in 1939, has been a finalist for both the Sulman Prize and Wynne Prize for his work. Some of Max Mannix's oil paintings for sale include Twas a Dream of Joy, Evening Revellers, and Saturday Morning in Town. He says that his greatest artistic influences include Vincent van Gogh and Thomas Hart Benton, and this is apparent in a number of Max Mannix's paintings. Find regionalist oil paintings online from renowned artists and promising newcomers that express your love of a particular place.
