EDOUARD MANET (French, 1832-1883) "Portrait of Baudelaire" 1865 - Etching on off-white wove paper. Signed in plate only lower right, inscribed with the artist and the printer along bottom. Possibly a late 1800s impression. Unframed. Image is 3.5 x 3 inches (9.2 cm x 7.7 cm), sheet is 11.4 x 8.5 inches (28.8 cm x 21.5 cm). Excellent condition, lightly tipped onto backing. This is a portrait of Charles Baudelaire after a photograph by Nadar. Includes a copy of 1987 receipt from Craddock and Barnard (London UK). From the Gary Robertson Historical Print Collection (Regina). This piece is also in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art (New York).

Stéphane Mallarmé hat den Text ins Französische übersetzt, Edouard Manet schuf die Illustrationen dazu. Die geplante Auflage betrug 240 Exemplare, wobei wohl nicht alle Exemplare gedruckt wurden.
