      Print on paper, ca. 18 x 13 cm, hand-coloured, signed "Jacobus de Man" at bottom right (waterstains in the left corners, 2 sm. holes on the left edge). - Saint Joan of Valois (1464-1505) is dressed in a red robe and bears a crucifix in her left hand. On her right, a child with a basket puts a ring on her finger. Briefly Queen of France as the wife of King Louis XII, she retired after her marriage was annuled and in 1501 founded the monastic Order of the Sisters of the Annunciation of Mary. Revered as a saint from the 17th century, she was canonised only on 28 May 1950. - Joined: 1. Small silver stoup. [18th c.?]. ± 10 x 4,5 cm; punches "800" and head of dog with W and 2, hanging ring. Embossed decoration representing the Virgin and Child, two putti on the cup. Nice copy.-- 2. Engraved printing copperplate for a pilgrimage pennant. [18th c.]. Trapezoidal-shaped, ± 11 x 19 cm; nailed to a plywood block (one nail replaced). Pennant representing Saint Margaret of Antioch (4th c.), known as Saint Marina the Great Martyr in the East, standing above a dragon and bearing the palm of the martyrs, with the legend "S.t Margareta patronersse in/ barensnood en tegen de kramp/ diege eerdword te Neyghem". She is the patron saint of the 13th-c. Gothic church of Neigem, a Belgian village near Ninove. (3 pcs)
