Frantisek Maly (1900-1980)was trained between 1915 and 1921 to a textile artist but he always deals intensely, beside his work in the field of decorative arts and stage art, with painting and graphic. His works were influenced by Mikulas Galanda and Ľudovit Fulla, which are considered as the founders of the modern Slovak painting. He also get important impulses from European movements such as the lyrical and synthetic Cubism, or Surrealism. Recurring themes in his works are landscapes, still lifes, city views and female nudes.

Künstlerinfo: eigentlich František Hájek-Hvezdínský, nannte sich als Künstler ab 1931 nach dem Mädchennamen seiner Mutter "Franta Malý" oder anglisiert "Francis Small", tschechischer Maler, Graphiker, Zeichner, Illustrator, Karikaturist und Schriftsteller (1900 Pardubice OT Rosice nad Labem bis 1980 Karlsbad), ab 1904 Kindheit in Suchovrsice bei Trutnova, nach dem 1. Weltkrieg Pläne zur Gründung einer Galerie in Suchovrsice, lebte in den 1920er Jahren in Prag, hier Gründung der Zeitschrift "Zivot (dt. Artist info: actually František Hájek-Hvezdínský, from 1931 called himself "Franta Malý" after his mother's maiden name or anglicised "Francis Small", Czech painter, graphic artist, draughtsman, illustrator, caricaturist and writer (1900 Pardubice OT Rosice nad Labem to 1980 Karlovy Vary), from 1904 childhood in Suchovrsice near Trutnova, after the 1st World War plans to found a gallery in Suchovrsice. After the First World War, plans to establish a gallery in Suchovrsice, lived in Prague in the 1920s, founded the magazine "Zivot (engl. Life)" here and worked as a writer in the field of philosophy, spiritualism and occultism until 1930, worked as a painter in Belgrade from 1931-45 and travelled through Serbia, Bosnia, Dalmatia and Montenegro, settled in Karlovy Vary from 1945, founding member of the Karlovy Vary Artists' Association in 1947 and its chairman for many years, source: Internet.

Frantisek Malý (1900-1980) Frantisek Malý was trained between 1915 and 1921 to a textile artist but he always deals intensely, beside his work in the field of decorative arts and stage art, with painting and graphic. His works were influenced by Mikuláš Galanda and Ľudovit Fulla, which are considered as the founders of the modern Slovak painting. He also get important impulses from European movements such as the lyrical and synthetic Cubism, or Surrealism. Recurring themes in his works are landscapes, still lifes, city views and female nudes.
