Andrew Magdanz Sold at Auction Prices

b. 1951 -

Andrew Magdanz studied with Harvey K. Littleton at the University of Wisconsin where he received both his B.S. and M.A. degrees. Here he assisted Littleton and later enlarged his experience with studio glass through Marvin Lipofsky at the California College of Arts and Crafts, where he earned an M.F.A. degree in 1978. Andrew established a strong reputation as a teacher. He initiated the glass program at Colorado Mountain College and taught during summers at Pilchuck, Haystack Mountain School and the Penland School of Crafts. He maintains a glass studio that produces production glass or crafted objects such as vases, bowls, bottles and pitchers. Yet his personal work involves sculptured forms in glass, some of which display fractured glass surfaces that reveal an aspect of glass not frequently encountered in works by studio glass artists.

He was the recipient in 1979 of the National Endowment for the Arts Master Craftsman Grant. Andrew has works in the collections of the Corning Museum and the Hokkaido Museum of Modern Art as well as the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, to name but three of many of his glass sculpture in public collections.
