    The Master of the Legend of Saint Mary Magdalene (active Brussels, c. 1490-c. 1526) A triptych: central panel: The Virgin and Child with Saint Francis of Assisi; the wings: Saints Jerome and Gregory the Great with a donor, and Saint Catherine with a donatrix; the outer faces: The Adoration of the Magi in a sculpted niche, en grisaille, with the coats-of-arms of the Canizares family inscribed 'guarnsair[?]' and dated '1533' (lower centre, on the frame of the central panel) oil on panel, in an engaged triptych frame, decorated on the reverse with trompe-l'oeil marbling and inscribed 'guarnsair[?]' (twice, at the upper centre of each frame) the central panel 22 5/8 x 18 in.
