Ink and marker board. 425x584 mm; 16 3/4x23 inches, sheet. Signed "MacNelly" in the top left corner and again, with date 3/15 in last panel; additionally inscribed by MacNelly below the title panel. This comic focuses on a quintessentially 1980s Wall Street theme, as a commodities trader who has stepped into the bar, tells the title character Shoe about his line of work, and interest in "Mercedes futures." Unlike other Shoe pages which have come to the market, this page is vibrantly hand-colored in watercolor.

He was the first cartoonist inducted into the UNC School of Journalism Hall of Fame in 1985. He said at the time: "I'm afraid if my mother finds out, I'll be in big trouble. She thinks I'm running numbers in Baltimore". Original signed ink political cartoon, 13" x 9" (sight), a partially-inked piece showing a "TAX STRUCTURE" with a sign: "CONDEMNED" attached to the front door. A worker from "Capitol Hill Demolition" is chipping a tiny area on the huge building as his co-worker asks: "SO HOW LONG DO YOU THINK THIS'LL TAKE?" Matted and framed.

Ink on artistÍs board, depicting the titular character of the comic strip, P. Martin ñShoeî Shoemaker, sitting at his desk typewriter. Black wooden frame, matted, image area 17 x 20î. Sold with the special memorial section of the Chicago Tribune devoted to MacNelly upon his untimely death in 2000.
