          Iain Macnab (1890-1967), Scottish, An original wood engraving from 1934, "Conversation Piece", Depicting an elderly Chinese man and a lady in conversation, no 16 of the only edition of 60 signed and numbered proofs on simile Japan paper with full margins and deckle edge, Signed in pencil lower right and numbered in pencil lower left. 280 x 250mm paper size, image 231 x 167mm [Provenenace: Under the mount there is a hand written inscription in pencil on the right edge of the paper "Norman Haire, 127 Harley Street" (London), the original owner of the woodcut. Dr Norman Haire (originally named Zions), 1892-1952, was a medical practitioner and one of the foremost pioneering 'sexologists' of the early 20th Century Please Note- we do not make reference to the condition of lots within catalogue descriptions.           § Iain Macnab (British, 1890-1967) Nude signed lower right "Iain Macnab" oil on canvas h:49 w: 62 cm Provenance: From a Norfolk country house. Iain Macnab was the founder and principal of the Grosvenor School of Modern Art, which pioneered linocut as an art form. His school of teaching focused on the 'rhythm' of the composition, created by curved lines and planes of colour. This concept founded the basis of the early linocuts of Macnab and his pupils. He exhibited at the Royal Academy and the Royal Scottish Academy, and his work is in the permanent collections of the V&A, the British Museum and the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford.
