    V Divadle (Im Theater) Farbige Kreiden auf Velin. 1932. 38,2 x 47,3 cm. Unten rechts mit Bleistift signiert "Máchal". Máchal, ein Außenseiter der tschechischen Avantgarde, studierte 1914-22 an der Prager Akademie bei Obrovske und Thiele. Er war Mitglied des Künstlerverbands Mánes. In Anlehnung an Picassos Werk zeichnet er post-kubistische Kompositionen; seine charakteristischen klobigen, etwas steifen Figuren mit den großen Köpfen und geschwungenen Konturen zeigen sich von Grosz und Schlemmer, aber auch von Ensor beeinflusst. Máchals bevorzugte Themenwelt seit dem Ende der zwanziger Jahre ist der Zirkus und das Theater. Auf dem beiliegenden Unterlagekarton mit Ausstellungsetikett, dort betitelt und datiert. ?
