Giorgio Luxardo Art for Sale and Sold Prices

b. 1937 -

Giorgio Luxardo is a Postwar & Contemporary painter who was born in 1937.

A Livorno born artist Luxardo’s studies began with the masters of his home town, Gino Romiti and Ferruccio Mataresi, who saw valuable qualities and technical abilities in him and thus encouraged him to continue working. The first teacher to push him in the direction of figurative work was from the Macchiaioli tradition, Renato Natali. This Livorno master urged him towards life study and taught him to use a careful, painstaking and direct vision of nature as his thematic research source. He began producing paintings created with crystal clear forms modelled by means of a knowing use of colours and perfect light modulation. His daily ‘en plein air’ excursions led to paintings depicting colours, light, contrasts, the Tuscan coast, the boundless Maremma and the splendid Livorno countryside with great mastery without neglecting interior views with transcendent still lifes. Luxardo belongs to the post-Macchiaioli group of artists bound to their land for whom the latter was an inexhaustible source of inspiration and research.
