      IMPORTANT LIU YUAN'S (1914-1999) CHINESE WATERCOLOR SCROLL PAINTING This beautifully hand-painted Chinese scroll is decorated with dark golden fabric reaching to the outer edges. The scene depicts a rooster standing beneath peonies blossoms amidst a rock work and foliage. Showing themed calligraphy inscription followed by iron-red signature seals on top left, another seal on bottom left. Dimension: 82-1/4" H x 21-3/8" W Painting dimension: 57-1/8" H x 15-1/8" W LOT NOTES Liu Yuan (1914-1999) an artist and calligraphy January 26, 1914 Born in Nanjing. Liu's father was the Jinling Mingru member. In 1929 studied at the Shanghai Art College for Western painting department, received guidance from Liu Hai Su, famous artist Pan Yuliang and other professors. The summer In 1932, he served as a primary school teacher at Confucius Temple in Nanjing, and as an illustrator at the "DPRK", "Nanjing Evening News" and other newspapers. In 1936, Liu Yuan and Tian Han Ye Qianyu actively participated in the organization of the "Salvation Exhibition" and drama performances. During 1941, Liu Yuan's painting "Guangxi peasant woman? participated in the national art exhibition by Xu Beihong and taken to England exhibition. March 10, 1999, Liu Yuan died due to heart disease in Nanjing, died at the age of 86.
