Video Link: https://vimeo.com/932202276?share=copy   Jules and Connie Kay were passionate collectors of art and antiques during their 67 years of marriage. Focusing on American paintings of multiple genres, as well as European and Chinese ceramics, the Kays amassed a diverse collection of art and objects, even before falling in love with contemporary art glass about twenty years ago. It became a hobby and a joy for both to visit local galleries and studios together and seek out new and exciting works by many talented glass artists to display in their Palm Beach home. The couple were drawn to pieces of unusual shapes, colors, and meaning, and appreciated the expressiveness of each piece they chose to add to their collection. Their daughter Sally recalls, "Their houses are filled with works of art!" Palm Beach Modern Auctions is pleased to offer at auction a selection of works from this wonderfully curated collection.   This lot is available for truck shipment to points along the I-95 corridor at a flat rate of $350 (including Shipper's full coverage for damage or loss). Flat rate includes first-floor delivery within 50 miles of Interstate 95 (I-95) extending from PBMA in Lake Worth Beach to Massachusetts, including but not limited to Washington (D.C.), Philadelphia (Pennsylvania), New York City (New York), New Haven (Connecticut), Providence (Rhode Island), and Boston (Massachusetts). Harvey K. Littleton earned a B.A. in Industrial Design from the University of Michigan and a M.A. in Ceramics from the Cranbrook Academy of Art. A trailblazing artist, Littleton is known for revolutionizing the studio glass art movement in the United States by introducing the idea that the artist could mix, blow, and work glass in the studio. Littleton established the nation's first glass program at the University of Wisconsin-Madison where he also taught for many years. The program and its early students – including Tom McGlauchlin, Marvin Lipofsky, Sam Herman, Fritz Dreisbach, Joan Byrd, Handler, Henry Halem, Dale Chihuly and Michael Taylor – became leaders in the studio glass movement, helping to lead a renaissance in glass blowing in the United States and Europe. His work can be found in the collections of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art; The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; the Smithsonian Institution, Washington D.C.; and the Victoria & Albert Museum, London, among others.
