Both his parents were members of indigenous tribes and their culture was to be inspiration for his works. At the age 5 to 18 years he lived with a foster mother, who encouraged his artistic ability. She sent him to art classes and persuaded him to go to art school. Littlechild chose to continue on this path and finally got a Diploma in Art and Design at the Red Deer College as well as a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1988 at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design in Halifax. After he had lived and worked in Edmonton for a couple of years, he is now at home in British Columbia. His works have been shown in numerous national and international solo and group exhibitions, e.g. in 1991 at Otto Van de Loo Gallery in Munich, 1993 at Abokke Gallery in Japan and of course several times in Alberta and British Columbia, most recently in 2014 at the Kimoto Gallery in Vancouver. Littlechild has also been awarded with many awards, such as in 2003 with the Visual Arts Developing Award (VADA) and in 2006 with the Aboriginal Role Models of Alberta Award.
